Hello! And, welcome to Hudson Science!! I’m Dr. Jill Humston and I teach 7th grade Life Science, and 8th grade Earth and Space science in the middle school, and Chemistry at the high school. I am also the Student Council adviser.
I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. I moved to Madison, WI and attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison from 2002 to 2007 and received my Ph.D. in Biochemistry. I taught chemistry and a variety of other science courses at the University of Northern Iowa for 4.5 years before coming to the Hudson Community School District. While at U.N.I, I worked with high school students through the Iowa Math and Science Academy. This experience of teaching high school students in this summer program motivated me teach science at the middle and high school level. This is my second year at Hudson.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Andrew Ackermann, and our 2-year old son, Asher. I read a lot and we love seeing movies. I enjoy all kinds of music and being outside.
