What a fun and exciting week we have had! It was great to see so many of you take time out of your busy schedules and attend the games at the UNI-Dome both last week and yesterday afternoon. Yesterday capped off a successful fall sports season. From our athletic teams to the FFA, and journalism–there is much to celebrate right now at Hudson Schools!
This week was busy working with administrators on their monthly evaluation and meeting with all our new teachers. On Wednesday afternoon the labor relation committee for the classified staff met and began working through their employee handbook.
Looking ahead to Monday, Representative Walt Rogers will be visiting the district prior to our board meeting. He will visit classrooms and have a tour of the facilities. That evening when he joins us for the meeting, the legislative priorities that I would encourage you to highlight with him include the SAVE (which is for the extension or removal of the sunset on the sales tax) and extension or removal of the sunset on operational sharing incentives. You will also notice from the agenda that I am suggesting a couple of work sessions for the board so we can discuss some topics in greater depth and detail. While we can certainly discuss these within the context of a regular meeting, these topics will require a deeper discussion than we may otherwise be able to dedicate during a normal meeting. Of course this is totally your call as to how we want to handle this, but as a start please be ready to discuss the potential of work sessions on Monday night. Also joining us on Monday will be Jeff Oltman, our representative from Invision Architecture who will answer any questions you may have on the scope of phase 2, which is scheduled for a vote that evening.
