What an exciting way to end our week! Our 12-0 Pirates will be making an appearance in the title game next Thursday at 1:30. It was great to see such a huge turnout at today’s game. Our plan right now is to dismiss classes early on Thursday. The administrative staff will meet first thing Monday morning to consider the schedule and come up with a plan so we can make sure the students get lunch before heading to the game.
On Monday I attended the workshop and commission member orientation sponsored by the governor’s office that was related to my appointment to the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. Following that meeting I was attended a reception at the governor’s mansion (Terrace Hill) that was hosted by Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Gregg.
My meetings with new teachers continued this week. It is my sincere desire to have all of these wrapped up by Thanksgiving. At this time I do believe that everyone is scheduled. These are great conversations that will be very helpful for future mentoring and induction activities for new teachers.
Wednesday afternoon I met with our architect and engineer on phase 2 of the elementary renovation project. A reminder that they will be in attendance at our November 20th board meeting to answer any questions you may have before officially approving the scope of this project. Yesterday morning I met with Representative Rogers to discuss our legislative platform. Another reminder for you that Representative Rogers will also be in attendance at our November 20th board meeting. I have also schedule his visit to the school district for that afternoon.
Our Veteran’s Day assembly, which was scheduled for today, has been postponed to Monday at 10 a.m. I have cancelled our reservations for the school board convention on Thursday with the exception of President Finn, who will still need to attend due to a prior caucus commitment. All other hotel rooms and events for Friday have been cancelled for all board members.
