If I don’t have an opportunity to see you, have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I wanted to thank you for your hard work on Monday evening. Our time together resulted in some very significant steps forward in our school district! The primary beneficiary of these decisions will undoubtedly be the students we serve!
Although the week before the holiday break is a lot of fun with multiple activities, we still had a chance to get some important work done! Most significant was our teacher leadership meeting on Wednesday morning. During that meeting we discussed the progress that has been made in our professional development efforts, the work we are doing with assessment and student achievement, and a discussion about our future plans (2018-2019) for professional development. In January we really turn the page and begin to focus many of our efforts on planning for the new school year.
The labor relations committee also met this week and continued a review of the employee handbook. We spent quite a bit of time discussing transfer and reduction in force procedures and policy. In all I believe the meeting went well.
Thursday after school I attended the ribbon cutting at the apartment complex on Springfield Avenue. The first unit of the Meadowbrook Condominiums is complete and construction is well underway on future buildings. We are excited about the potential this has for Hudson Schools!
The picture that I am sharing today is from the FFA breakfast held this morning. An annual holiday tradition, the FFA sponsors a breakfast for all faculty and staff right before the break. I love breakfast meats! Another fun activity that I have come to look forward to is the last home basketball game right before the break. It is always such a fun and festive evening. I hope you are able to join us tonight!
In case you are wondering, I will be off on Monday and Tuesday with tentative plans to be in the office tomorrow and the latter half of next week. The following week, I am currently planning to be off on January 1 and 2. Those plans are tentative and should be considered flexible. As always I am available by phone. At this time I am not planning on a Friday bulletin for next week.
If I don’t see you, please have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It has been an outstanding 2017, and I have a feeling 2018 is going to be even better for Hudson Schools!
