I do hope today’s message finds you all well and that you were able to enjoy a very nice and relaxing 4th of July with family and friends. I returned to the office on Monday after enjoying a nice vacation to Charleston, S.C. with Ann. It was very warm for sure out there, but not too much unlike what we have experienced this last week. But, in actuality for residents of Charleston they found it quite pleasant!
It has been very busy here at the school! All our registration packets are prepared and will be sent out next week. Summer school is in full swing and the UNI reading clinic continues daily. Our summertime projects are moving along nicely, I am confident that we will meet our deadlines at this point. The only snag we are going to run into will be getting everything cleaned before the teachers return.
Next Friday we will be hosting a legislative visit for area legislators and committee chairs in an effort to boost advocacy for the extension of the SAVE. The purpose of this visit will be to demonstrate the good work and investment we have been able to accomplish through the use of the statewide penny. By visiting our construction site, we hope to give legislators an opportunity to see a comprehensive project that makes a difference for our community and encapsulates both the importance of continuing this investment and seeing the good use of this resource. The event will start at 11:00 on July 14th in my office. If you are interested in attending, please let me know so I can make all the appropriate arrangements.
The highlight of the week is encapsulated in the photo above where we buried a time capsule, not to be opened until at lease May of 2067. At the end of the project we will install a plaque on the wall with an ‘X’ to mark the spot on the floor for a future generation of Pirates to discover our buried treasure. Pictured in the photo are Lane and Taylor Rogers, children of Braden and Nicole.
Have a great weekend!
