NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: Sealed bids for the Public Improvement Project titled “2017 Roof Improvements Project” will be received by the Board Secretary of the Hudson Community School District at the District Office, 136 S Washington, Hudson, IA 50643, before 1 P.M. C.S.T. (according to the designated clock in the District Office) on the 15th day of December, 2016 at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud for the construction and replacement of the following roof improvements:

2017 ROOF IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
HUDSON, IA (hereinafter “Project”).
Bids for the Project will be publicly read aloud at 6:00 C.S.T. on December 19th, 2016 at
Hudson Community School District Office, 136 S Washington, Hudson, Iowa. All interested parties are invited to attend.
A Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 9:30 A.M. on the 7th day of December, 2016 at the
Hudson High School. Bidders shall meet at the front entrance of the District Office, 136 S
Washington, Hudson, IA 50643. Attendance at the Pre-Bid Conference is not mandatory
however a site inspection on or before December 11th is mandatory.
Sealed bids must be made on the Bid Form available from the Hudson Community
School District at the District Office, 136 S Washington, Hudson, IA 50643. No oral, telegraphic, or telephonic bids or modifications will be considered. Copies of the proposed Contract Documents, including the plans and specifications titled “2017 Roof Improvements Project”, are now on file with the Board Secretary and available from the Hudson Community School District at the District Office, 136 S Washington, Hudson, IA 50643.
Bidders will be required to provide a security deposit in the form of an approved Bid
Bond, cashiers or certified check, or certified share draft in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid, including alternates, in a separate attached envelope. Bid security shall be made payable to the Treasurer of the Hudson Community School District. Performance Bond and Labor, Material and Payment Bond will be required by the successful bidder in the full amount of the contract. Should the successful bidder fail or neglect to furnish satisfactory Performance/Payment Bonds, refuse to enter into a contract on the basis of the bid, or fail to meet the requirements of this Notice and the specifications regulating the award, the bidder’s security may be retained as liquidated damages. No bidder may withdraw its bid for a period of forty-five (45) calendar days after the date and hour set for receiving bids.
The Project will be bid as a single prime contract for a lump sum amount. The Project will
commence upon a Notice to Proceed or as soon after the award that the contract, bond
documents, and insurance are received from the contractor and reviewed for compliance with the bid specifications. The anticipated completion date for the Project is August, 2017.
Consideration of the bids received and the award of contract or other actions may be
made by the Board of Directors of the Hudson Community School District upon the proposals received in accordance with the law and the plans and specifications at its meeting to be held at 6:00 P.M. on the19th day of December, 2016, at the Hudson Community School District Office,136 S Washington, Hudson, IA, 50643.
The Board of Directors may make the contract award to the lowest responsive,
responsible bidder meeting specifications titled “Hudson Community School District 2017 Roof Improvements Project.” The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interests of the Hudson Community School District.
By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions
grown and coal produced with in the State of Iowa, and to Iowa domestic labor.
Applicable provisions in the Iowa Code and Board Policies will govern all bids.
